National Bike Month Activities May, 2014 (check back often for updates!)

Caffeinated Bikers: Tampa BayCycle partnered with Kahwa Coffee’s six area locations to distribute free bike light safety kits to cyclists through the “Brighten Up Your Day and Night” campaign. Free cup of coffee included!

Bike Repair Stations: The New North Transportation Alliance is working on a network of bicycle repair stations to be located around the USF area. The self-repair stations provide a stand, tools, and air pump.

More Bike Parking: In anticipation of the Coast Bikeshare program, the Tampa Downtown Partnership is adding more bike parking options with parking medallions, meter posts, bike racks and two self-repair stations. Total places to park your bike will increase to a total of 250!

Bikes at the Market: Tampa Downtown Marketfeature a different local bike group each week, offering free bike valet, bike safety literature and bike lights every Sunday, 10am – 3pm. Check out Coast Bikes at the Market and enter to win a one-month membership.

  • May 4: City Bike Tampa, a full service specialty bike shop with two Downtown Tampa locations offers rentals, tours, sales, service, repairs, parts and accessories. Use the Market Bike Valet and receive 50% off a tune-up ($35 value).
  • May 11: Tampa Bay Bike Co-Op, an all-volunteer, community organization prepares cyclists for the road ahead by providing the space, education, tools and parts to maintain and enjoy their own bicycles. Ride your bike to the Market and get a free safety checks from a Co-Op staff mechanic.
  • May 18:History Bike Tampa, offers guided tours starting in downtown Tampa highlighting different neighborhoods and topics. Abbreviated tours will be offered from the Market at 11am, 1pm and 2pm.
