April is Earth Month and Earth Day celebrations around the world will take place on April 22.

The environmental impact of transportation is significant. Even sharing one ride during the month will have an impact!

2013 Words for Wheels Winner

Congratulations to Linda Evans, our Words for Wheels winner. She is excited to ride her new bicycle in her community for health, errands and fun. She received a helmet, lights and reflective vest. We hope Linda will enjoy riding her new bike! Words for Wheels offers participants the chance to win a bicycle during Florida’s Bicycle Month, in exchange for a short insightful essay on how owning a bicycle would change their life. We hope to see more people on bicycles in the Tampa Bay area.

Get a free small cup of coffee at Felicitous Coffee House (9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.) or at Einsteins Bagels at the 5003 East Fowler (7:30 – 9:30 a.m.) this location only. Bicycle Repair Station Installed at University of South Florida providing Benefits for Bicyclists – Complete the survey

The first Bicycle Repair station in the Tampa Bay area has been installed at the University of South Florida on the first floor of the Beard Garage located off of Alumni Drive. The repair station is convenient to use and offers an air pump and an assortment of tools. The location is covered, providing shelter for users. The station was purchased by the New North Transportation Alliance (NNTA), a public/private partnership in the USF area managed by the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) with funding from the Florida Department of Transportation District 7. ”Encouraging bicycling as a mode of transportation is an important part of a sustainable campus,” said Julie Bond, NNTA co-chair. “We are working to make the campus a safe and enjoyable place for both bicyclists and pedestrians.” NNTA has also provided bicycle racks that are installed in USF parking garages and at local businesses. The station was installed by USF Parking and Transportation Services also providing space in the garage. Check out the repair station and let us know what you think.
