Course Description
BikeSmart Course
This 90-minute mini-course is for adult cyclists (18 years of age and over) who are currently riding a bicycle or want to begin riding for transportation in the Tampa Bay area. Taught in a classroom setting, this interactive course covers topics including:
- Route selection, on-road positioning, bicycle choice, nutrition, dealing with cargo and clothing, bike parking, lighting, reflection, rules of the road, ABC Quick Check, and foul weather riding.
- Participants will also learn Florida bicycle laws and receive information regarding local bicycle fatality and injury statistics.
Included with the class are handouts, student materials and a bicycle safety item (light, bell or vest). Each participant will also receive a signed BikeSmart Certificate of Completion suitable for framing. Upon request a guided ride or parking lot drills can be included. For rides and drills waivers must be signed and all participants must have bicycles in working condition and road ready.
Maximum of 12 people per class.
